Get ready for an unforgettable evening as we kick off the festive season with a dazzling light switch-on event that’s sure to leave you in awe.

Join us from 3pm on November 16th, where we’ll be switching on our new-for-2023 Christmas lights switched on at 4pm! We’ll be making a real event of our light switch-on, so make sure you’re in Charter Square just before to help us celebrate our new lights!

Prepare to be enchanted by our illuminated stilt-walking fairies gliding around the centre, who will add some extra sparkle to the event.

Plus, our cheeky circus elves will be roaming the streets of the arc to perform random acts of kindness by handing out gift vouchers, so keep an eye out for them!

Visitors to the light switch on will get a sneak peek at the beloved Theatre Royal Christmas Cabin, returning once again to Charter Square with their new performance ‘Where’s Santa’s Hat?’ set in Santa’s living room. Theatre Royal will host their popular interactive festive performance in which children take part by helping Santa and his Chief Elf Alva locate Santa’s hat so he can successfully deliver his presents! The 20-minute performances are perfect for 2 – 7-year-olds and run from 17th November to the 24th December with tickets from just £4.
