What's On

Come and learn CPR at arc and feel confident you can be a lifesaver!

On Saturday 9th August a team from East of England Ambulance Service will be here at arc. They will be talking to the community about the importance of learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and demonstrating how easy it is. They will have CPR dummies so that you can have a go yourself, after some simple instructions on what to do. Children are encouraged to have a go too, it’s never too early to learn! They will also be showing people how to use defibrillators, which is easier than you think, as the machines themselves guide you through the step by step process.

Many people find the prospect daunting, but the East of England Ambulance Service wants to demonstrate just how simple it is to learn CPR and how to use defibrillators, and how you can save a life. There are 30,000 out of hospital heart attacks in the UK each year, and the chance of survival is greatly enhanced if CPR is administered immediately, before the paramedics arrive. It is important to note that in the event of a heart attack, you can do no harm by administering CPR, but you might save a life.

So whether you are a trained First Aider that would appreciate a reminder of what to do, or a complete novice wanting to learn for the first time, come along to Charter Square on Saturday 9th August, have a chat with the team, and receive some free instruction on CPR and the use of defibrillators. There will also be an ambulance here for people to take a look inside, and their friendly mascot will be here for photographs and fun!
