Join us for the Day of Dance during Mental Health Awareness Week!
On Saturday 17th May arc Shopping Centre and the town centre of Bury St Edmunds will come alive with the sound of bells, hand clapping, and the tapping of hazel sticks, as groups of Morris Dancers perform in various locations around the town!
The local Green Dragon Morris have invited other Morris Dancing groups from all over the country to join their celebrations in Bury St Edmunds, with them all meeting here at arc, then setting off from Charter Square at around 10.30am for a day of dancing in multiple locations around the town.
It is fitting that the Day of Dance takes place during Mental Health Awareness Week, especially as this year’s theme is Community. We know that social connections and community are vital for mental health and wellbeing. Through community participation we gain support systems that help us navigate life’s challenges, and communities provide emotional support, companionship, and a sense of belonging that reduces isolation.
Morris Dancing is an excellent way to connect with your community, it is good for both physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. What could be more joyous than dancing with your friends, spreading fun and laughter in the community?
